Whenever you feel like there’s something wrong in your life, it is usually due to a lack of balance in your 5 Chakra elements. The manifestations come in the form discomfort , such as restlessness, getting easily distracted, or migraine. It may lead to a more serious condition if kept unchecked.

These 5 elements are tiny particles that make up everything. Some are visible to the naked eye, while some are not. Knowing which ones are unbalanced requires adequate knowledge and the determination to fix it. That is why getting to know each of the chakra elements is important. Fortunately, each one has a corresponding signal when it is not balanced.

Outlined below are the 5 chakra elements. We will learn what they are, how to tell when they are not balanced, and how to meditate in order to get an element back in a state of harmony.

Earth

Corresponds to: Root Chakra
Symptoms of Being Off-Balance: insecurity, feelings of emptiness, feelings of unworthiness

Just like the foundation of a building, it is the root chakra that enables us to stand tall. It grounds us when we are feeling too high, and reminds us of our purpose when we are feeling down.

How to Meditate

  1. From a quiet place, sit in a comfortable position with your legs crossed.
  2. Close your eyes and try to feel the Earth below you.
  3. Connect your thumb with your ring finger. Do it on both hands.
  4. Chant these words of affirmation, I am grounded. I have a strong foundation. I am built to stand tall.
  5. Do this for at least 10 minutes everyday. You will slowly start to feel the difference.

Root Chakra - Guided Meditation

Water

Corresponds to: Sacral Chakra
Symptoms of Being Off-Balance: depression, extreme aggression, anger, frustration

The water element is linked to the reproductive and urinary system. It is responsible for the intense emotions that we experience with the people around us.

How to Meditate

  1. From a quiet place, sit in a comfortable position with your legs crossed.
  2. Close your eyes and imagine being at an empty shoreline. Waves are calmly reaching the shore and the ocean breeze is touching your face. Imagine the sound of the water gracefully flowing back and forth.
  3. Connect your thumb with your pinky finger and do it on both hands.
  4. Chant these words of affirmation, I am calm. I can adapt like flowing water. I am at peace with myself and with everyone around me.
  5. Do this for a minimum of 10 minutes each day, and you will slowly start to feel the difference.

Fire

Corresponds to: Solar Chakra
Symptoms of Being Off-Balance: lack of motivation, no sense of direction/leadership, low energy level

This Chakra Element corresponds to the burning passion for life. It is our source of confidence, self-esteem, and humor. It is also the element that drives people to succeed.

How to Meditate

  1. From a quiet place, sit in a comfortable position with your logs crossed.
  2. Close your eyes and imagine looking at a bonfire. Envision how it would sound and how it will smell.
  3. Raise both of your thumbs as though you were giving yourself two signs of approval.
  4. Chant these words of affirmation, I am brilliant, I am confident and I can light up the world.
  5. Do this for a at least 10 minutes each day, and you will slowly start to feel the difference.

Air

Corresponds to: Heart Chakra
Symptoms of Being Off-Balance: feelings of restriction or getting trapped, shyness, anxiety

When the air element is not in the right place, it causes anxiety because of its connection to the heart chakra. When you meditate on the heart chakra, you allow yourself to understand your emotional needs. This, in turn, helps you understand others better.

How to Meditate

  1. From a quiet place, sit in a comfortable position with your logs crossed.
  2. Close your eyes and reflect by asking these questions: What emotional problems are dragging me down? How do I confront this problem so I can move on with my life?
  3. Allow your thumb to touch your index finger and point the three other fingers downward.
  4. Chant these words of affirmation, I choose to forgive myself and let go of these emotions. I am ready to move forward and let my soul be free?
  5. Do this for a at least 10 minutes each day, until start to see the difference.

Ether

Corresponds to: Throat Chakra and Third-eye Chakra
Symptoms of Being Off-Balance: meddling in other people’s lives too much, inability to express one’s self, poor communication

Ether refers to very small particles of matter that fill up the spaces in our body. It is the substance that makes up the vibrations that we feel and the light that we see. It is the most transcendent element of all.

How to Meditate

  1. From a quiet place, sit in a comfortable position with your logs crossed.
  2. Raise your hands midway, with your palms facing upward and your left hand on top of the right (as if they were ready to receive a present).
  3. Close your eyes and imagine a bright light that is flowing through your forehead, giving you power and energy.
  4. Chant these words of affirmation, Limitless power flows through me, I am protected by the divine, I am strong.
  5. Do this for at least 10 minutes each day and until you see a difference.

You may have noticed that the Crown Chakra wasn’t associated with any of the 5 elements. This is because it cannot be classified and tied up with an element, as it is the encompassing Chakra. You can only achieve balance with the Crown Chakra when you have balanced all the five elements.

Now that you know how the chakra elements that you need to work on, you will be more equipped on your journey ahead. Life is indeed a balancing act. As the poet, Euripedes has said: The best and safest thing is to keep a balance in your life, acknowledge the great powers around us and in us. If you can do that and live that way, you are really a wise man.
